Bless,
what can I say about her?
Perhaps
her nicknames will help. First is "Best Out West Bless" and "Sweet
Bless". Then there's "Bless the Pest". Ah, and let's not forget "TownCrier".
Bless is absolutely the sweetest, most loving girl. She has never
met a stranger. She's a great Therapy Dog (after the first 5 minutes
when I've reminded her not to try to jump into everyone's lap). Bless
has won, hands down, the contest of seeing how many square inches
of her body can be placed into contact with mine on the bed. Bless
loves obedience and tracking, has tested for Schutzhund and has great
drives (we'd do that if we didn't have to drive at least 330 miles
one way to train). We finally have found a trainer who will work with
non-border collies, so Bless wil start herding training this summer.
Bless is an absolutely maniac retriever; in fact she's missing two
teeth from her love of retrieving a 55 gallon oil drum (which is now
barricaded so she can't get to it). The "TownCrier" title is also
well earned. Bless loves company, and gets so excited when friends
come to the house that she does a dance complete with a happy bark,
"Hey! Look! We have company! We have Company! Hurray!" She also loves
to "help" me start the car by following my hand as I put the key into
the ignition and barking as I turn it on. She continues to bark as
we drive and tries to herd the other cars off the road so we have
plenty of room. There is only one Bless--so full of joy of life, so
exuberant, so silly, so anxious to please, so loving.
What a
girl!
